Review - The Dark Knight

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Dark Knight PosterLast week, I joined the ranks of World of Warcraft fiends, teenage boys, and overall comic book lovers for the midnight showing of The Dark Knight.  I didn’t really have any expectations going into this film, but my sister and her friends assured me that it would be worth the missed sleep.  (more…)

As Far as I’m Concerned, the Writers’ Strike is still ‘Happening’

Wanted PosterTranslation: lately I have just seen one-too-many terrible movies.  I do my duty as a film buff and see as many flicks as I possibly can at any given time, but I think it is safe to say that this summer has disappointed so far. (more…)

Review - Pottery Barn Water Bottle

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Pottery Barn Water BottleIt’s been a while, but here I am with some jewels of wisdom for you: my boyfriend recently started carrying around this metal water bottle because he’s a hippie and is trying to save the environment by not using plastic bottles and….whew, gotta take a breath…..then I realized how financially rewarding it would be to not purchase bottled water each and every friggn day…$2 for a bottle of water!!! COME ON!  So I searched and searched and could not find one!  Well guess what? His mom, who is a saint by the way, went and got me one from the same place she got his….Pottery Barn! I’ve never set foot in a Pottery Barn and you don’t have to either :) They’re selling them online for $7 which is pretty sweet considering they’re usually $10.  Anyway, I’ve been using mine for a few days, and I love it! Plastic bottles smell funny after a few days (even if you wash them…it’s nasty) but this one seems to be holding up pretty well so far.  The Nalgene ones kinda gross me out too.  So if you’re a hippie/cheapskate/germaphobe, go check it out…it comes in pretty colors :)

Review: The Wedding Singer the Musical

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

The Wedding SingerHello my friendly friends!! I just got back from Charlotte, NC and let me tell you, it’s a pretty lame city. I know, I know, that is not a nice thing to say, but when it’s 40 degrees and all the shops close at 2 pm, what is a girl to do?! Lucky for me, The Wedding Singer was in town, and I was able to score some sweet seats for $20 because I iz a colleeg stoodent. I was a little skeptical as to the worthiness of this musical, but I like musicals in general so I figured it couldn’t be that bad. I was actually really impressed with this show and was happy with the differences between it and the movie version. Robbie’s fiancé Linda definitely stole the show and her 2 scenes were my favorite by far. That girl can sing! Certain parts can be a little “adult” so it’s probably not a show you want to take your 3 year old niece to, but if it comes to your city, check it out! It’s a great way to spend $20-$50 and it makes you feel like you have a little damn culture in your life!
