Review - The Dark Knight
July 23rd, 2008
Last week, I joined the ranks of World of Warcraft fiends, teenage boys, and overall comic book lovers for the midnight showing of The Dark Knight. I didn’t really have any expectations going into this film, but my sister and her friends assured me that it would be worth the missed sleep.
They bought our tickets last week, and got in line for our theater at 10 pm. I slid into my seat right as “Regal First Look” was starting…there is no way that I will EVER wait two hours in line for a good seat….but I’m glad that they did. It was nice being able to sit together in the back so we didn’t strain our necks over the 3 hour period that we were in the theater. Now, I know there were a lot of people that were disappointed by this movie, but I loved it. It was very long, but I felt that it was entertaining and, yes, thought provoking. (Who’d of thunk it??) My sister thought it was too dark and depressing, but I think that there was a realism that reflected our own society…and included the (barely noticeable) silver lining. I cannot think of anything that I did not like about The Dark Knight, and I definitely think it was worth the $8 that I spent on the ticket.
Was it good enough to attend the 3:15 am or, God forbid, 6 am showings? No. But then again, I don’t think anything is worth being awake at 6 am.

i LOVE this movie. my roommate also thought it was depressing and i really just have to disagree. the whole point of the movie is to portray the realities of our world, but also note that there is hope and goodness, i think.

Why does batman sound like a cross between Clint Eastwood and a Grizzly Bear?
